Since its founding two days after Indonesia gained independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia has been at the forefront in safeguarding the nation's priorities through diplomatic efforts, both domestically and globally. It is crucial that the Ministry uphold the voice of diplomacy through its visual identity in today’s platform.

Challenge

As proud Indonesian citizens, we were honoured to be part of this historical change, one that we approached with the utmost care. The challenge lies in the transformation itself – to preserve the Ministry’s spirit and elements within the identity while refining its appearance. Our objective was to integrate the Ministry’s deep-rooted philosophy, history, and values into an optimised visual identity, cohesive in its message and consistently applicable to today’s platforms.

Solution

We looked back to the earliest iteration of the Ministry’s logo – the original sketch. We ensured every stroke and detail are captured into the new, refined logo while incorporating the national colours to give it a stronger sense of identity. To optimise the current identity, we integrated the Ministry's description as a unified part of the logo, establishing a clear identity. Each minute change carried weight as we meticulously refined them, supporting the Ministry's presence in addressing the global challenges of today and tomorrow.
